ULTRASTUDIO is a curricular node at Ultradependent Public School led by the question of how to build livable communities through the political act of publishing. It is configured as a series of knowledge exchanges between institutional print studios, squatting communities, and housing rights advocates across the Netherlands. Ultrastudio is convened by two friendly satellites: the Book Binding Studio of Sandberg Institute/Rietveld Academy [2] in Amsterdam—with Miquel Hervás Gómez and Ott Metusala—and cultural worker Lila Athanasiadou.

ULTRADEPENDENT PUBLIC SCHOOL is a public curriculum co-convened by a network of educators, cultural workers, students at large, and the Community Portal @ BAK, basis voor actuele kunst. UPS positions study as a radically collective, public labor that lives in-between institutionalized walls and hierarchies. UPS blurs the edges between formal classrooms and everyday life by positioning kitchens, printshops, housing squats, community centers, garages, radio stations, hallways, and sidewalks as also-sites [1] of study. UPS runs from October 2023 to May 2022. At the moment, its nodular curriculum has seven study groups: Ultrahospitality, Ultrastudio, Ultrasonic, Ultracirculation, Ultratranslation, and Ultragrey. These may multiply on short notice.
